Grand Gulch Mine

The Grand Gulch Mine is an abandoned copper mine from the late 1800s. The original stone buildings, bunkhouse, old steam engine parts, and two dump trucks remain on the site. Safety and Conditions Before you explore the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument , take some time to really plan your visit. You will need to plan for other potential hazards such as unmarked rugged roads and venomous animals. Bring plenty of water, food, extra gasoline, and at least two spare tires. Carry matches or a lighter, a signal mirror and foul weather gear. Road conditions vary based on weather conditions. We recommend high-clearance vehicles. Technology can make backcountry travel more comfortable, but be aware that cell phones, radios and GPS units may not work in many areas. Instead, make sure you have a detailed map to find your way.
