Overview

This trail climbs through a lodgepole pine forest for approximately 1 mile to the old mining town of Masontown. Spectacular views of Dillon Reservoir, the Tenmile Range and the Continental Divide can be seen from Masontown. At this point an option is to continue on the steep trail up to the summit of Mount Royal. Mining ruins at Masontown as well as some near the summit provide other opportunitiesfor explorers.
