Overview
The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, built in 1876 and a member of Historic Hotels of America® since 1995 was designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark in 1971. Historic Hotels of America is the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation® for recognizing and celebrating the finest historic hotels across America. The years between 1876 and 1931 saw the incremental construction of a magnificent building that would become Riverside's famous The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa. The city-block-long structure had its beginnings in the Glenwood Cottage, the adobe home of Frank A. Miller. The home's first addition, the Mission Wing, gave rise to the Cloister Wing and Music Room, then the Spanish Wing and Gallery, and then the dramatic International Rotunda Wing. The outdoor Court of the Orient, St. Francis Chapel, and Atrio followed. Over the years, acquisitions from Miller's worldwide trips were gradually incorporated into the home's dйcor and structure. Today, The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa is a property of unique historical significance that offers peerless comfort and modern amenities.
